HISTORY

From its humble beginnings on a family farm in Bosley, Aggregates Express Ltd has journeyed through decades of growth and transformation. Founded by brothers Phil and Stan Swindells, the company began as a building and demolition outfit, fuelled by hard work and a dedication to customer service.

This spirit of innovation soon took root: in 1985, an acre of land in Macclesfield became the home base, marking the transition to a limited company. 1993 saw the arrival of Neil Trueman, who joined the team as Director and brought fresh perspectives. Together, they navigated the ever-evolving landscape of the industry.

A landmark moment arrived in 1994 with the introduction of a crusher and screener, transforming Aggregates Express into a supplier of recycled aggregates. This commitment to sustainability continued in 2010 with the launch of skip hire services and the erection of a waste transfer station, driven by a desire to reduce landfill dependence.

Further innovation followed in 2013 with the installation of a waste picking station, facilitating rapid and efficient manual sorting. Soon after, in 2014, the acquisition of an adjacent reclamation yard expanded the company’s footprint to over 4 acres, laying the groundwork for future growth.

The past few years have seen a changing of the guard, with Phil and Neil electing to step away from the helm. However, the family legacy lives on. In 2023, Stan welcomed his son Matthew and Alex Lowe as Directors, marking a new chapter in the company’s story.

Today, Aggregates Express Ltd stands as a testament to the power of family, collaboration, and unwavering commitment to progress.
